What is the role about?

We are looking for an experienced Workday Functional Lead with strong Workday HCM expertise to help ensure our clients are utilizing the best possible Workday solutions.

In this role you will lead the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of Workday HCM solutions for clients.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into Workday functional solutions.

  • Provide strategic guidance to clients or service partners on best practices for Workday functionality.

  • Manage functional deliverables associated with implementation projects.

  • Facilitate troubleshooting and coordinate with other internal team members to resolve issues.

  • Oversee and mentor small teams on multiple projects simultaneously, coaching them on Workday functional best practices.

  • Engage where appropriate in the sales cycle to scope and estimate Workday HCM projects.

  • Serve as the primary functional contact during client implementations for existing and new clients.

  • Develop detailed documentation, including functional specifications, process flows, and business requirements.

  • Conduct and oversee system testing, scenario testing, and validation of functional configurations.

  • Manage system setup, analyze business processes, and align them with Workday functionalities.

  • Coordinate cross-functional tasks and create/manage project plans. Assist in developing project scope documentation.

As a VR consultant, you will have the flexibility to manage your own day, as long as you meet your set objectives and client demands. Often your team will be a mix of on-site and remote based members who will connect using IM, video calls and an online ticketing system. Good communication skills and time management is essential for this role.

What skills are we looking for?

Our roles are remotely based (even pre-Covid), meaning you will be working from your home office, connecting with your client and team on a daily basis.

To be successful in this type of environment, you will need to have the ability to communicate effectively (in English) with cross-functional teams, explain complex concepts in easy, understandable terms, align HR / business knowledge with Workday functionality, and proactively drive process improvements. You will need to be comfortable with video calls and be proactive in keeping communication channels open with your client and team.


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Min of 3+ years of Workday Functional experience in HCM or related modules.

  • 3 years of combined experience delivering functional solutions in a corporate environment.

  • Experience leading Workday design sessions and facilitating process alignment workshops.

  • Strong expertise in Workday configuration, including business processes, reporting, security, and tenant setup.

  • Detailed understanding of ERP system concepts and module functionality across HCM, Absence, Payroll, Talent, and Time Tracking.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple cross-functional teams, including business users and other technology stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.

  • Proficiency in tools such as Excel, Visio, MS Project (or equivalent), and PowerPoint.

  • Proven ability to map HR or Business needs to workday functionality.

Other Qualifications/Skills that will be beneficial but not mandatory:

  • College or University Degree in HR or Information Systems.

  • Workday Certification in HCM, Payroll, or other functional modules.

  • Familiarity with Workday Extend is a plus.

  • Certifications in related methodologies or project management (e.g., PMP, Agile) are advantageous.

  • Experience with any of the following: Java, JavaScript, .NET, XSLT, NetBeans IDE development background

As this is a remote role, you can be based anywhere in the EU or UK region, so long as you are authorised to work without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
